Weathertightness Training Courses
The New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors Inc. has run courses to equip our Surveyors with the range of specialised skills necessary to properly inspect houses for weathertightness. Tutors include scientists from BRANZ (Building Research Association of New Zealand) and leading experts in each specialist field, such as Building Law, Wood Decay and Mould.Those members who have completed such a course and attained a satisfactory passmark in the final exam are identified in the list below by [Certified Weathertightness surveyor] alongside their name.
Remediation
This
refers to the design and supervision of repairs to houses damaged by water entry.
Repairs carried out without the appropriate level of expertise frequently result
in the need for further work. Remediation Specialists are the only persons recognized
by this Institute as being appropriately trained and qualified to design and project
manage weathertightness repair works.
Those members with the required level
of training and experience sit on our panel of Remediation Specialists. This panel
is updated periodically as other members complete the advanced courses in Remediation,
pass the exam and achieve the practise experience required by the Institute. Panel
Members are identified in the list below by [Remediation
Specialist] alongside their name.
